Who this policy covers
Occult Hall operates this website and its library, accounts and community. This policy describes the service as it works today. It does not describe a separate service you may choose to use outside this website.
Information we use
- Account details: your email address, display name, username, password hash, account dates, and any biography or profile picture you provide. Your password is stored as a hash rather than readable text.
- Sign-in and security: session identifiers, expiry times, IP addresses, browser information and request counters help keep you signed in, prevent abuse and investigate faults.
- Community contributions: posts, replies, reports, moderation records and their dates, together with the account associated with them.
- Reading memory, if you enable it: completed lessons, your last lesson, page-reading credit, achievements and your animation preference. Reading time is an estimate used for achievements, not proof that you read or understood a page. Signed-in reading progress can sync to your account.
- Technical diagnostics: request and error information needed to serve pages and keep the service reliable, including visited paths, response status, device or browser details and network information.
These uses support the service you request, account security and community operation. Optional reading memory depends on your choice. Applicable privacy rights and legal grounds depend on your location.
What other people can see
Community posts and replies are publicly readable. They show the author’s username (or display name where no username is available), profile picture and posting date. Detailed profile pages, including your biography, are available to signed-in members. A profile picture can also be viewed by anyone who has its image address.
Your email address is not shown in public profile or community views. Account reading progress is accessible through your signed-in account, rather than a public leaderboard. Avoid posting private details about yourself or anyone else in community messages or your profile.
Your browser choices
Necessary sign-in and security storage works when needed. Optional reading memory is off until you choose it. You can browse free material and sign in without enabling reading memory.
Changing to essential-only clears saved optional reading data from this browser and stops future automatic reading saves and account progress sync. It does not delete progress already held in your account, your posts or your profile. See Cookies & storage for the full explanation.
Hosting and other services
Cloudflare hosts the website, account database, files and technical diagnostics. Its infrastructure may process data in different countries. The site uses locally hosted fonts and artwork and has no advertising or audience-analytics tools installed.
Payment processing and account-email delivery are not connected yet. No payment-card details are collected by this website today. Before these services are enabled, we will update the relevant notices and explain the information shared with their providers.
How long information stays
Account data, contributions and synced progress stay stored while needed for the service; there is currently no scheduled account-data deletion process. Sign-in sessions normally expire after seven days and may renew while you use the site. Expiry does not mean every related database record is immediately erased.
Optional browser reading data remains until you remove it, withdraw the preference or clear website storage. We remember your storage choice for up to 180 days, after which we ask again and pause optional persistence until you choose.
Cloudflare’s current paid-plan diagnostic logs and traces are retained for up to seven days. Database recovery history can retain earlier data for up to 30 days after a change. These periods are separate from the live records in your account. Reports and moderation records may remain after a contribution is removed.
Managing your information
In your account, you can edit your display name and biography, replace or remove your picture and change your password. You can delete your own community posts and replies. Removing or replacing a picture removes its profile reference and attempts to delete the old stored image.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, object to certain uses, withdraw consent, or complain to your local privacy authority. Cookie settings control browser preferences; they are not an account-deletion request.

Changes to this notice
We will update this page when the service or its data practices change. The date above identifies the current version. A new optional purpose will require a new choice before it is enabled.
