John Dee's Angelic Diaries
The stone, the seal and the heavenly court
AN OCCULT HALL ILLUSTRATIONEnter its world.
John Dee’s angelic records present a developing account of divine government, sacred names and the hidden workings of creation. Edward Kelley reports visions and voices; Dee questions, records and compares the instruction. The resulting system is built through successive conferences rather than appearing complete at the beginning.
Twenty-three editorially arranged readings begin with the early partnership, lettered seal and sevenfold court, then follow the richly documented 1584 teaching in the 1659 printed record. They explain Nalvage’s cosmology, the Great Table, angelic names and offices, prayer and preparation, and the Call of the thirty Airs. The nineteen Calls remain a distinct historical grouping; the thirty Airs remain thirty distinct regions. The local facsimile contains these later conferences, not the complete earlier 1582 notebook.
